The earliest reference of Nagar community has been extensively made in the ‘Nagar Khand’ of Skand Puran, believed to be written between 300 and 770 AD. The Skand Puran was written by a group of highly educated and elite group of Brahmins, with a view to propagate the Brahmin culture and was inspired by Skand Gupta and other Vallabhi Emperors of the time.
